| Bournemouth's UK and International Champion Denise Mellor and Finish and Scandinavian Champion Lotta Loikkanen were selected to represent the WBC at world level for the FIRST Time on July 25th in Bournemouth. This fight was the beginning of the WBC Entering the Female world of Muay Thai World Champions. In a cracking and fast paced 5 rounds it was Finland's Lotta Loikkanen who walked away with the WBC Belt - after a good start from Mellor the tide turned from round 3 onwards with Lotta landing more and pushing the pace and so taking the judges decision. On the Undercard, Bournemouth's own ex-Junior Champion Sally McCarthy added the adult WKA Title to her collection with a strong performance and win over more experienced Claire Reilly. With a clear win at the end Sally showed that she has confidentally made the transition from Junior to adult now she is 18. WBC Secretary General Patrick Cusick was impressed with both Sally at 55kg and Denise at 47kg that he has recomended that they either both go for National or International Title shots with Denise looking for rematch with Lotta if offered for the World WBC Title.
